Air Canada offering 25% off new bookings after strike concerns

Air Canada reached a deal, and now it’s giving its customers one.

The airline has announced that it is offering 25% off new bookings and a bonus of 2,500 extra Aeroplan points as a thank you to its customer base left in limbo as a potential strike loomed.

Canadian woke up to news on Sunday that the country’s largest airline reached a tentative agreement with the union representing more than 5,200 of its pilots.

The tentative deal averted a strike or lockout that could have begun on Wednesday, with flight cancellations expected before then.

As the strike deadline loomed, many customers were left scrambling to change their travel plans out of fear that their flights might be affected.

The airline said customers who changed flights originally scheduled from between Sunday and Sept. 23 under its labour disruption plan can change their booking back to their original flight in the same cabin at no cost, providing there is space available.

The tentative deal averts travel disruptions for the 670 daily flights on average operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, and the travel of more than 110,000 passengers.

Air Canada’s 25% off offer is available on new bookings now until 11:59 a.m. on Wednesday for eligible trips booked up to May 31, 2025.

It was also announced that the airline will also be surprising their customers at select airports across Canada with tokens of appreciation including Aeroplan points, lounge vouchers, snacks, swag and more.
